Measurement Accuracy of HBM-1 Validated at CJK Ophthalmologist Joint Meeting<\/strong><\/h2>\n

One of the most critical steps in cataract surgery is intraocular lens (IOL) power calculation. To ensure patient-customized surgery, parameters such as keratometry (Kf, Ks), axial length (AL), lens thickness (LT), anterior chamber depth (ACD), and central corneal thickness (CCT) must be measured with high accuracy, as they are directly linked to the patient\u2019s postoperative vision outcomes.<\/p>\n

Therefore, it is essential for clinicians to confirm whether the biometer they use can consistently deliver reliable and repeatable measurements.<\/p>\n

Launched in 2023, the Huvitz HBM-1 Optical Biometer was designed to meet this need. It is already available in 114 countries worldwide and has earned global recognition for its accuracy and reliability, proving its value in real clinical practice.<\/p>\n

To further validate these strengths, a research team led by Professor Ungsoo Kim from Chung-Ang University Hospital conducted a clinical study comparing the HBM-1 directly with the global reference device, Zeiss IOLMaster 700. The findings were presented at the 18th CJK Ophthalmologist Joint Meeting.<\/p>\n

Repeatability and Comparison with IOLMaster 700<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The study evaluated the repeatability of HBM-1 and its agreement with IOLMaster 700 results across three patient subgroups: normal eyes, cataract eyes, and pseudophakic eyes.<\/p>\n

– Subjects: 143 eyes (48 normal, 48 cataract, 47 pseudophakic)<\/p>\n

– Measurement protocol : Up to 3 measurements per eye (with a maximum of 5 when needed)<\/p>\n

– Parameters analyzed: Keratometry (Kf, Ks), AL, LT, ACD, CCT<\/p>\n

– Reference device: Zeiss IOLMaster 700<\/p>\n

Results That Prove HBM-1\u2019s Reliability<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The study demonstrated that HBM-1 consistently provided stable and repeatable measurements across all subgroups, showing high agreement with the global reference device.<\/p>\n
